NTU celebrates...

Prof Bertil Andersson performing on stage with Prof Freddy Boey and students
Now in its second year, Celebrate NTU! on Tuesday, 11 March, was a special day for students, faculty, staff and alumni to come together to commemorate the university's achievements.

At 2.30pm, NTU President Prof Bertil Andersson delivered the State of the University Address in the Nanyang Auditorium. An annual highlight, Prof Andersson's keynote speech touched on the university's strategic directions and other exciting developments in the year ahead. Outstanding faculty, staff and students were also recognised at the inauguration of the Teaching Excellence Academy and the Nanyang Awards ceremony.

After that, students joined the Quad Party and tucked into a sumptuous buffet spread as they grooved to live music and watched dance performances by NTU's student clubs and hall jam bands. Others seeking an adrenaline rush dropped by the exciting game stations which included gyrospin and wave surfing.

A surprise performance of The Beatles' hit Let It Be by President Bertil Andersson with Provost Prof Freddy Boey on the guitar also got the crowd cheering enthusiastically, right before Prof Andersson handed out the top lucky draw prize of an iPad Air to a beaming student.

When night fell, students continued to boogie the night away on the dance floor. Headlining this year's party were two of Timbre's biggest bands, 53A and Goodfellas, while popular club personalities DJs Andrew T and Zushan and rapper ZY spun chart-topping hits.
