NTU gives you wings. And for Ying Hui, a compass and a treasure map to reach your ambitions. The sociology graduate has been working in Shanghai for Seedlink Holdings, a human resource analytics firm, since March last year, first as an intern, and now as a full-fledged employee.

The desire to live and work in another country, says Ying Hui, came from her overseas exchange stint in Toronto, Canada, in her second year.

“Studying in Toronto made me realise I loved meeting new people and collecting stories from them.”

NTU’s Overseas Entrepreneurship Programme which marries studies and exposure in emerging companies overseas, gave her the perfect platform to take the next step – to sample life in a different culture as a working adult as well.

“Being in the programme made me feel safe. I knew that help was just a phone call away. Evelyn from NTUitive, NTU’s innovation and enterprise arm, was very supportive and even came down to visit me and the others in the programme.”

Ying Hui’s next port of call is Amsterdam, where she’ll be part of the Seedlink team tasked with establishing an office there.

“I don’t know where I’ll end up, but as I’ve learnt from sociology, it’s okay as long as I keep exploring and, in the process, becoming a better version of myself,” she says.
