Stock your new digs on campus with these essentials (beyond clothes and cutlery!)

1. Router. You need Wi-Fi connection to surf on your mobile devices.

2. Shower caddy. For toting your shower essentials to and from the communal bathroom with ease.

3. Dish sponge. It’s more hygienic to use your own one in the hall pantry.

4. Wall hooks. Choose removable ones that attach to your cupboard or wall.

5. Bathroom slippers. Opt for a non-slip quick-drying pair.

6. Lidded trash can. So you don’t have to step out of your room just to discard a small item.

7. Desk mirror. Or a lighted makeup mirror that offers additional illumination.

8. Laundry basket. Choose a lightweight one with handles.

9. Storage basket. Have a few of these for storing snacks and sundries. Pick foldable ones for easy keeping.

10. Reed diffuser. Removes food odours if you eat in your room without an open flame like burning scented candles.

11. Wet wipes. Antibacterial ones will save you from accidental spills and trips to the washroom when you need clean hands for snacking.

12. Jar of new $1 coins. To operate the washer and dryer in the laundry room. Tip: Use a vending machine to get $1 coins from your smaller coins or dollar notes.

13. Wire grid. Nice to have! Keeps important loose scraps of paper and precious memories in place.

14. Over-the-door hanger. Hooks for hanging clothes – anything really.

15. Prepaid air-conditioning card. Top it up at your hall to operate the air-conditioner (if there’s one in your room).

16. Magic mop. Makes floor-cleaning a cinch with its spinning mechanism that lets you wring out the quick-drying microfibre mop head without using your hands.

17. Clothes stand. Save some money by reusing the one that your kid sister has outgrown.

18. Bed sheet and pillowcase. Get matching ones for a put-together look and throw in a cosy quilt or duvet for cooler nights.
